Gazette No. 37 — Notice of Interest — Arrowdale Lands

Arrowdale Golf Course Lands — Brantford — Notice of Haldimand Encumbrance
Date: 28 March 2026
Category: Lands & Territory
Status: Perfected

Be it known and placed on record: That the Mohawk Nation of Grand River Secretariat hereby files a Notice of Interest in the Arrowdale lands, City of Brantford, Ontario, being those lands comprising the former Arrowdale Golf Course, and notifies all parties contemplating any transaction affecting those lands of the Secretariat’s registered constitutional interest.

I. The Arrowdale Lands

The former Arrowdale Golf Course lands, Brantford, Ontario, fall within the six-mile Haldimand corridor. Any proposed development, disposition, or restructuring of the Arrowdale lands by the City of Brantford, Costco Wholesale, or any other party proceeds with direct notice of the Secretariat’s registered interest and the Haldimand constitutional encumbrance established by Gazette No. 65.

II. The Costco History

The Secretariat’s constitutional engagement originated with the Costco Brantford development proposal at Arrowdale in 2019–2020. The External Correspondence Record (G30) documents the correspondence series arising from that proposal. The Secretariat engaged City Council, the developer, and the Director of Titles at that time. No substantive administrative response was received. The constitutional question has not advanced significantly on its own since then; the Secretariat advanced it through the constitutional programme now culminating in the Application for Writ of Mandamus.
