Gazette No. 36 — COVID-19 State of Emergency Proclamation — Retrospective
Category: Executive Government
Status: Perfected
Be it known and placed on record: That the Secretariat of the Mohawk Nation of Grand River hereby retrospectively enters in the Register, under Rule 11 of the Rules of the Register, the Mohawk Nation of Grand River’s proclamation of a State of Emergency within the Mohawk Acquired Territory during the COVID-19 pandemic. The proclamation asserted the Secretariat’s authority to issue emergency directives within its territory independently of provincial emergency declarations and was issued in 2020 under the authority of the founding institutional framework.
The retrospective entry confirms the institutional continuity of the Secretariat’s authority from 2020 through the formal registration of the Register on 28 March 2026 and establishes that the Secretariat’s authority to act within the Territory did not commence on 28 March 2026 — it merely became formally registered on that date.
