Gazette No. 45 — Mohawk National Transportation and Safety Initiative (MNTSI)

Be it known and placed on record: That the Mohawk National Transportation and Safety Initiative (MNTSI) is hereby established, setting out the Secretariat’s framework for transportation safety within the Mohawk Acquired Territory. The MNTSI operates independently of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act framework within the corridor, which the Secretariat contests as inapplicable without first addressing the Haldimand encumbrance.

The MNTSI establishes: speed and safety standards for NVR-registered vehicles; a framework for incident reporting; a protocol for engagement with Brantford Police Service in matters involving NVR vehicles; and a process for resolving disputes between Secretariat transportation authority and provincial transportation authority within the corridor.
